Wellness Testing for Senior Pets

Senior Pet Wellness Testing

Early detection can make a major difference in your pet's health and wellness. This process can help to monitor ongoing health conditions or detect underlying health conditions before they become more serious. Many health conditions that occur in senior pets don't show symptoms until your pet's health has deteriorated significantly, so early detection may save their life. Wellness testing is an important part of keeping your senior or geriatric pet healthy and comfortable throughout their golden years.

Managing your pet's wellness is much easier and more affordable than treating a health emergency. Frequency of wellness visits depends on your pet's specific health needs. Typically, wellness check-ups are done once or twice per year, sometimes with more frequent check-ups for pets with serious health conditions. Minor changes in your pet's condition could indicate a turn in their health, and vigilance may be the key to avoiding major complications.

Things that we would look out for during wellness visits include changes in weight, problems with your pet's vision, dental health issues, heart disease, and organ function. Liver and kidney failure are common in dogs, and those conditions require frequent monitoring to avoid complications. Lymph node enlargement is also a red flag in your pet's health, and could be a clue of possible cancer or infection. Older pets typically develop arthritis due to years of physical activity, and there are some treatments available to help keep your pet comfortable. Early detection of any underlying health issues can make a major difference in your pet's treatment plan. Our office provides discounted senior wellness packages to help keep your senior pet healthy and comfortable throughout their senior years.

Discounted Senior (7 Years +) Pet Wellness Screening Package

One year for human health is variably equivalent to 5 to 10 years of age for our pets. Because we need to detect problems early to provide effective care; it is very distressing to diagnose a normally treatable disease had it been discovered earlier. Pets hide their pain and symptoms extremely well, and can't tell us how they feel, so commonly pet parents are completely unaware of problems.

In order to address preventable tragedy, we are offering a very complete screening package at a significant price reduction over individual diagnostic tests, as well as reduced prices for all other services/medications performed at the same visit (food excluded). The package includes: A very thorough physical examination; Complete Blood Profile; Full Body X-rays, Abdominal Ultrasound Screening; EKG; current medical history; review of previous records. This exam requires an 8 to 12 hour fast and a drop-off of 2 to 4 hours. All results are provided and discussed with you upon completion.

Use of this screening at a younger age establishes a good baseline for future comparison.
